I've been working on another difficult block for 4 days, it's been driving me mad. I decided to take a break from it yesterday and I blocked this Cloche. I just needed to finish something.
I tried to use every last bit of t
he capeline, and
I almost did. There are the few pieces left in front of the mannequin. The last photo is what the leaves look like before they're sewn and the strip is what the vine was cut from.

Thanks Cath-Peebles Hats, This was really fun to do. I love cloches too. I'll block up a couple of others I have in the next couple of weeks. Thanks for the comments!!!
Great block, Gorgeous hat! You need to open an ETSY shop!!!! You'd tun that place on it's easr. This is my favorite hat so far! It's really nice & different. I mean....really. Love it!
You have a way with trimmings, it turned out great!
...but you know me... I gotta ask... those grooves on the middle of the block, what do yo think they would have been for? Any theories? I got one...

I cheated :0) I didn't want all those tie lies so I blocked it "smooth". I've used this block a lot in the past, blocking with two ties and with one. I'll do another later with all the tie lines.. Thanks! Everyone Your words really do keep me going.. Thanks a million times over!!
That's not cheating at all!
You know what I would try to do with that block?
I would try to do a bi-colour hat. I would block one felt in one colour and another one in a different colour, both marking the lines, and then I would use those lines to cut the felt, and I believe the cut edges will bend slightly inwards making it more or less "easy" to sew the different colours together.
Is that a crazy idea?... perhaps...
Great Idea! I will do that, maybe with a felt? No? OK two velours ;0)
You have my permission to use wool felt on this experiment! ;-)
Team Millinery: LOVE IT!
